Hi, I’m Olivia, 29, and my husband and I have been trying to grow our family since May 2021. Our path to parenthood has been filled with heartache and loss. In 2022, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and a septate uterus, followed by surgery in January 2023. Most recently, I was diagnosed with endometriosis in August after experiencing severe pain and gas lighting from healthcare providers. This medical negligence has impacted our family building plans and lives.

These conditions severely impact my fertility, and my husband has a low sperm count, requiring ICSI as part of our IVF treatment. We became pregnant six months into trying but tragically lost our baby shortly after sharing the news with family on Christmas Day. Since then, we’ve experienced eight pregnancy losses. For two years, my infertility was mishandled because I could conceive. We’ve faced judgment along the way, realizing that getting pregnant isn’t the same as staying pregnant.

After self-referring to a fertility clinic, we learned that IVF with PGT-A genetic testing offers our best chance at a healthy pregnancy. This testing helps prevent miscarriages by identifying embryos with the highest chances of success. The cost of PGT-A testing is around $5,000, contributing to the financial burden of our journey. After two surgeries, we are now preparing for two rounds of IVF, after which we will stop trying for a family if we are unsuccessful. However, we still need $10,000 to proceed.
